South Coast Underpass (Study)

Mixed media piece exploring forgotten, or non-places. This is based on original photography, and explores our built environment and our relation to it. I build up colour, tone and texture, by layering oils, graphite powders, pencil, and varnish. Over time I remove these layers, redraw, recolour, or sometimes start all over again with a wash of colour, leaving only the faintest trace of its history, all of this process is crucial to reveal the image I am searching for.
